The 21st Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival will be held at Bukit Layang-Layang and the Pasir Gudang Municipal Council field here, from Feb 24 to 28. State Tourism, Commerce and Consumerism Committee chairman Datuk Tee Siew
State Tourism, Commerce and Consumerism Committee chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong said the festival, themed ‘Explore and Colour Tradition’ symbolically meant kite flying is a pastime of society from the past.
“The uniqueness of the festival this time is a workshop on the exploration of the tradition and culture of kites from foreign participants especially from the Asean region,” he said after the pre-launching of the festival here, today.
He said the festival, which is a tourism event in the state, was targeted to attract 200,000 local and foreign visitors.
Tee said more than 1,000 local and foreign participants, including 237 international kite flyers from 42 nations such as China, Indonesia, Australia, Japan and Germany, had confirmed their participation.
