    Hi John,

We are planning to move to JB from Delhi (India) in May this year. It’s our first relocation to another country and me and my husband are very excited for the same. I have a few queries, would be great if you could help us:
    1. How good is the public transportation if I have to travel from Bukit Indah to Iskander for work daily?
    2. My husband is into sales and marketing, has over 6 years of experience. What are the job opportunities for him with MNCs in JB? He’ll be on dependent visa so would he be able to look for job opportunities in Singapore?

Hi I’m moving to JB in December.
Was wondering how the enduro/dirtbike scene in JB is?

Been racing the desserts of the UAE for the last 15 years and looking forward to bashing those jungle trails

Are there groups of expats in JB that are doing just that in the weekends?
Are there any regular baja and/or enduro events in the region?
    Any Dirtbikers out there?

    Hi John,

it is Stefan from Germany again. I already arrived in JB and now taking first steps to settle down (I will work at UTM from Feb onwards).
I’d like to send you belated merry christmas greetings and I want to ask you if you could suggest some event(s) for New Year’s celebration in JB?
It would be great to join some event and get to now some people.

    best greetings

    • Hi Stefan, Welcome to Malaysia and with regards to events in JB on New Years Eve, I personally spend the later part to see the new year in at Home with the family. But early in the night around 8pm we alway go to LegoLand in Nusajaya to watch the 3d Musical Fireworks its a really great family event and one I would recommend even for adults. then after it finish around 10pm we head home and enjoy the celebration on TV from Marina Square in Singapore.

But that’s what I like to do not being a drinker don’t get out to many nightclubs but The places that usually are very bizzy with parties are Zon on the water. their is about 4 nightclubs and usually have countdown party.

Also not far from their is Aquasonic nightclub they have special countdown party with over 5 DJ’s on the night.
Then KSL shopping mall and hotel – the marina at putri harbour. some great restaurants on the sea front. Also Century Gardens usually have fireworks events.

Also Celebrate 2015 with a bang at Le Grandeur, Palm Resort Johor by checking out their “Red, Hot & Sexy” New Year’s Eve Countdown Party, which offers discounted early bird rates. At Doubletree by Hilton Johor Bahru, Tosca is throwing its own poolside countdown party with live musical performances. If you’re looking for a more wholesome way to greet the New Year, Legoland Malaysia is hosting its own Musical Fireworks show at 8pm for you and your kids to enjoy!

What ever you decide I truly hope you have a great time.

      Regards John J Foster

Would it be possible to interview you to further share some of your tips and feature some of your first hand experience as an Expat and your interview will be published on our Expat Interview section as a guide for our expat readers. The questions are mainly about the day to day lifestyle of an expat. If it would be possible, could you also send some photographs that we can use?

    Hi John,
My wife and me will move to JB in 6 weeks. I will work thete at the university.
I’d like to ask you if you can give any tipps about whete and how to find a nice accommodation in a nice and rather save area in JB.
For any hints I will be very greatful.

    • Hi Stefan, I would recommend the Bukit Indah area as it’s got everything one could need in terms of schools, good restaurants and cafes, shopping is also great with the big Aeon Store that also has many high end shops located within the big store,

Maybe gated would be best bet if you are concerned with security, with regards to safety this is always a difficult one to answer. but like any other big city in the world non are crime free and it’s just a matter of enjoying life while being aware of whats going on around when you are out and about.

I always recommend you look at iproperty or another i like is property guru

I hear about crimes but never seen any in 9 years living in JB.

Good look in your move and welcome to Johor Bahru City of the Future.
